Spending a day with Jefferson on a private tour was a highlight of our trip to Ecuador. Jefferson took the time to talk over some options, listen to our interests, and curate a meaningful, authentic tour of Quito and the Middle of the World.

Our tour included a visit to a local market where we sampled fruit, pork, and had a limpia. We went to to see the Winged Virgin, which was stunning. Jefferson’s excellent knowledge of its history was entertaining and informative. Our third stop was the cable car ride, TelefériQo, to the top of Pichincha Volcano. Stunning views.

Then we headed out of town to the Middle of the World. After getting to know us a bit, Jefferson suggested that we go to the Intiñan Museum to learn about how the Incas determined the actual middle of the earth. The interactive displays and tour is well worth the visit.

We finished the day with a delicious meal of empanadas at a local eatery frequented by Jefferson and his family.

I had the pleasure of being guided through Quito by Jeff a couple of weeks ago, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip to Ecuador. Jeff clearly knows and loves his city — he walked me through its history with real depth, but never in a dry or rehearsed way. He had a knack for weaving historical facts into stories that actually stuck with me, and by the end of the tour I felt like I understood so much more about Ecuador than I did going in. This was my first time visiting the country, and Jeff's knowledge made it a far richer experience than I could have had on my own.

What really set Jeff apart, though, was how personable he was. He's competent and clearly experienced, but above all he was warm, approachable, and easy to talk to — the kind of guide who makes you feel like you're spending the day with a friend rather than following an itinerary. By the end of our tour, that's genuinely how it felt. I'd wholeheartedly recommend Jeff to anyone visiting Quito, and I hope our paths cross again someday. All the best to you, Jeff!

Jeff was a fantastic local guide. Very knowledgeable on local history and culture, flexible and understanding of our needs, and spoke perfect English. He tailored the tour itinerary to our interests and timeline, and even offered to help us move hotels at the end. Very highly recommended.

I’m a seasoned traveler and used to managing excursions on my own, and this was my first time on a private guided tour. Jefferson’s excitement and expertise about the history and architecture of Quito was contagious, and he explained things I never would have learned just visiting on my own. Jefferson’s knowledge of the city meant we spent more time enjoying the sights rather than trying to figure out how to get to and from different locations. He was communicative, thoughtful, and flexible about timing so we could make it to early dinner reservations, dropping us off at the restaurant to make sure we weren’t late, and even checking back in to make sure we didn’t get lost. Highly recommend!
